Prevention Programs

Elementary School Programs

At local schools in our service area the child advocate can provide presentations on a wide array of topics. The largest presentation that we give involves the Second Step Child Protection Unit. It is mandated through Erin’s Law that all schools have some form of Child Abuse/Sexual abuse education. This program is amazing at breaking this down for grades Pre-K- 6. There is a high school component as well! Presentations on bullying, self-esteem, friendship and dealing with different emotions are offered as well.

Middle & High School Programs

At the middle and high school level as mentioned above we do offer presentations regarding Erin’s Law but the component we have found to have the greatest success are the small groups that can be offered at local high schools! These groups are able to discuss a wide variety of topics that middle and high school students may be facing in a safe space. We focus a lot on anxiety and depression, healthy relationships, suicide prevention and bullying.

Community Programs

The Crisis Center has partnered with many agencies (law enforcement, local businesses, churches in the area, etc.) for donation drives and different event in the community. Advocates at the Crisis Center can attend meetings in the community to describe our services and answer any questions someone might have.

Our Mission

The mission of the North Central Indiana Rural Crisis Center is to help end domestic violence in Jasper, Newton, and Pulaski counties by providing temporary shelter and services to victims and children of domestic violence and/or sexual assault through education, advocacy, and community intervention.  We strive to build a community of hope by empowering victims to “break the silence” of violence.  Our motto is, “Turning victims into survivors, helplessness into hope.”
